[Malaysia] University of Malaya Fellowship Scheme for 2007/2008 Session

The University of Malaya (UM) invites all Malaysians and non-Malaysians interested in pursuing postgraduate studies in the University of Malaya to apply for the University of Malaya Fellowship Scheme.

Eligibility to apply:
(i) Applicants who are registered candidates of the University of Malaya for any of the Masters (research mode or mixed mode with research component not less than 70%) or PhD programmes; or

(ii) Applicants who have been offered admission to the postgraduate programme mentioned in paragraph (i) above; or

(iii) Applicants who have submitted an application for a postgraduate programme Masters (research mode or mixed mode with research component not less than 70%) or PhD in the University of Malaya or have already had discussions with the Director/Dean/Head of Department/Supervisor at the Academy/Faculty/Institute/Centre concerning the postgraduate programme to be applied for.


Applicants who are working (except as Research Assistants in the University of Malaya) or are receiving any type of financial assistance, are not eligible to apply for the scheme.

VALUE OF AWARD
Total value of the fellowship scheme is up to a maximum of RM100,000.00 inclusive of monthly stipends, registration fees, tuition fees, research fees, examination fees and service fees.

The monthly stipend to be given is as follows:

* RM1,500.00 per month for Masters candidate
* RM1,800.00 per month for PhD candidate

Application forms can be obtained from the Institute of Postgraduate Studies, University of Malaya, 50603 Kuala Lumpur or downloaded from the IPS website at http://ips.um.edu.my .

The completed application form must be submitted to the following address not later than 2nd November 2007:

Incomplete application form or application form received after the above date will not be considered.

Beasiswa S1 SembCorp Scholarship di NTU Singapura

SembCorp Scholarship - The SembCorp Undergraduate Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students of Indonesian nationality for a 4-year undergraduate studies at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). This scholarship offered for undergraduate programme in science like engineering, biology, mathematics, computer, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

Indonesian nationals who have completed the SMU Ujian Akhir Nasional (UAN)
.examination (IPA) or are completing SMU Ujian Akhir Nasional (IPA) in year 2008 are eligible to apply for the scholarships. Only students with outstanding high school results will be shortlisted for consideration
Selection Test and Interview

Shortlisted applicants would be required to appear for the NTU Entrance Examination and attend an interview in Indonesia.

Application for this scholarship is open. The closing date for application is 15 December 2007.

East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship

In its 5th decade, the EWC Graduate Degree Fellowship continues to draw outstanding applicants in the fellowship competition for graduate study. The fellowship provides funding for MA (up to 24-month fellowship) or Doctoral degree (up to 48- month fellowship) study.
Eligibility: Citizens or permanent residents of the United States and citizens of countries in the Pacific and Asia, including Russia and Iran.

BEASISWA Leeds Metropolitan University Scholarships 2007/2008

A limited number of scholarships are available for overseas students starting a full-time taught course at Leeds Metropolitan University in the academic year 2007/08. Awards are in the form of a reduction in the tuition fee for one year of a course only. It is the student’s responsibility to fund the remainder of their studies, where appropriate. All applicants must be financially able to fund the duration of their course, should their scholarship application be unsuccessful.

Scholarship opportunities available to overseas students across the University:
2007/08 International Scholarships
Awards to the value of either the full tuition fee or 50% reduction in the tuition fee for one academic year. Available to a limited number of overseas students.

The total allocation for the academic year 2007/08 (Sept 07 and Jan 08) will be equivalent to five full scholarships. These will be awarded as a combination of full and partial reductions in the tuition fee, with a partial reduction worth 50% of the tuition fee.

Applications that are unsuccessful for the full fee award will automatically be considered for the 50% fee reduction. Candidates should not submit two applications.

Candidates must complete an application form (see attached) and write a 2,500 word essay describing a typical day in their life. They should not choose a day in which an extraordinary event occurred. The essay should allow us to learn about the candidate’s life and culture in their home country. It should look at one but preferably more of the following aspects: home life (including family); social life (including friends and leisure time); background (including early education and employment if appropriate) and motivations.

Essay will be assessed with consideration of the following: overall presentation (2 marks); grammar/language (2 marks); originality (3 marks); content (3 marks). A maximum of 10 marks can be scored. The full scholarship will not be awarded to anyone with a total score of below 9 marks.

Deadlines for applications for September 2007 scholarships: 31 May 07 and 31 July 07

Deadline for applications for January 2008 scholarships: 30 November 07

BEASISWA AustraLearn Scholarship Program

While there are not traditionally many scholarships available for overseas study, there are good resources available for students to locate them.

New Zealand universities
Most of the New Zealand universities offer scholarships to international students, however there are not many available and they are extremely competitive. Scholarships at these institutions should be applied for at the time of application.
AustraLearn Scholarship Program
AustraLearn awards more than $250,000 US per year to students who apply to study in New Zealand for a semester or a year through AustraLearn. These scholarships are not available for full-degree students.
